Summer is here and as I perfer to stay inside and keep cool, my kids want to be outside...swimming in the neighbors pool or at the beach with friends...summertime is the time to enjoy the long care free days...
As I was reading through blogs this morning I was struck by some of my childhood memories thanks to Ali Edwards blog.... She was reliving some of her summer and outdoor activities it is made me think of this....
*playing box ball in the driveway of my home with my bother
*selling mangos from my Grandmothers tree on the side of our house as the church goers leave church on a Sunday morning...my brother and I always made a killing...at .25 cents a mango
*riding bikes around the neigborhood, to the park or the drug store for bubble gum and candy
*walks to the libray, which was only two bloicks from my house, with my brother to check out books for summer reading
*watching the fireworks at the park next to our house on 4th of July, we would lay on our rooftop with the best view in town
*hanging out at Milander park....swimming in the community pool and painting ceramics
*playing in the playhouse my father built in my backyard...an adult could actually stand up in there, I would always make my little brother play house...he always wanted to be a cowboy and go hunting or some boyish thing like that.
I don's have a lot of photos from when I was little...but I did come across these...
growing up in Florida you of course do some fishing...just for the record "I do not like to fish"
This is my Dad putting the finishing touches on that Play house I was talking about...he wallpapered the inside. It was just like a real house...to a little girl anyway...
this is the acutal house from the outside...I am the one in the middle with the green skirt (third one over from the left)...this was my birthday party...not sure how old I was.
Happy Summer....
